Antonio Robledo is unique as a composer with his concert and ballet compositions. For over 40 years he dedicated himself to Iberian music, especially flamenco. Robledo's fascination with Spanish rhythms and musical forms makes him one of the rare composers who has created modern, independent music while remaining true to its origins. The focus of his artistic activity is primarily in Switzerland, Germany, Canada and Spain. Countries in which he has worked with his wife, the well-known choreographer Susana, for various ballet companies (e.g. National Ballet of Toronto, Zurich Opera House). Further fruits of this partnership are the works Obsesión, A Juan, La Celestina and El canto nómada, musical-dramatic works which the dance company Flamencos en route includes in its repertoire.
He is also known for his collaboration with Spain's most innovative flamenco singer, Enrique Morente. The Fantasias de Canto Jondo (1986) for flamenco voice and orchestra - and Alegro Soleá (1990) for flamenco voice, piano and string orchestra - were received with great interest throughout Spain.
