Fragmentos I - Flamencos en route in residence in theThiK

A big dance company in a small theatre
Fragmentos I is an experience of music and dance in a most intimate space, a firework display of emotion and poetry. To the theme of metamorphosis space, dance and music get a vortex of impermanence, a swirling of desire to transcend time and form.
Arrows of desire and passion penetrate space and bodies, for this is Flamenco at its most elementary. The fragments which make up this production represent open-endedness, the unfinished, the possibility of transition open to every being. Indeed, as one fragment gives way to the next, the time to shape our being and take possession of a space in the here and now.

An interaction of dance, music and space unfolds.

Information Szene

It is clear: all those involved did not use the potential of these "Fragments" to highlight their own virtuosity. their enormous skill, their stupendous souplesse is never an end in itself but a matter of course, prerequisite and vehicle, to put across the wealth of ideas and emotions that overwhelm the audience continually throughout the evening.

Neue Zürcher Zeitung

That pregnancy of form determines the production throughout is largely due to the virtually supernatural synchronicity of music and movement. The vibrant question remains unanswered: is music invoking dance, or dance invoking music? Stylistically, the programmes encompass the structural form and fundamental power of all the elements of flamenco. The soli of the two men, including Michael Yasenak 's, bring elementary flowing motion on to the stage and bring a counter pole to the vital current of the so exceptionally powerful form of the women's dancing. There is no impression of a mere programme of numbers, because she creates the transitions as an organic flow, allows encounters of pairs to arise from the magic of profound emotions and as a refreshing concession to conventional flamenco programmes brings the evening to a resounding close with a brief buleria.

Fragmentos I creates a rare togetherness and reciprocity of dance and music. A felicitous experience!
